About Me

I have been lucky to have three careers in my life. Television, business and as a public speaker.

All three have been challenging and immensely rewarding. I’ve learnt so much and continue to develop my skillset everyday through the people I meet and work with.

I’ve found my ‘why’ – helping others to sharpen their messages and deliver them with impact…and yes, I walk my talk.

Mission & Values

To empower individuals, businesses, and organisations by enhancing their confidence and communication skills.

Providing skills that enable us to talk with compassion, courage, and clarity, and then execute with knowledge, focus, and confidence.

The stakes are high—whether it’s winning or losing a promotion or pitch, engaging stakeholders, or protecting your reputation, effective communication is critical.

One size does not fit all.

We know having worked across multiple sectors and a diverse array of clients, ranging from FTSE 100, 250, aim listed companies and SMEs to start-ups, charities, media outlets, not for profit organisations and professional services.

Striving for Excellence

Striving to be the best – knowing that when we have given it our all we can rest easy and produce great results

Fueled by Passion

Loving what we do ensures we have the energy and drive to pave the way forward

Embracing Freedom

Working in ways that enable the use of both tried-and-tested approaches and innovative new tools to achieve the best results.

Joyful Learning

Plato’s philosophy that “learning should be fun!” is a guiding principle.

Executive Coaching

Whether you have taken time out from your career, are unsure about your progression, or want to smash the glass ceiling, I’m here to help.

Masterclasses

From delivering Powerful Presentations to Media Training and Crisis Management – the experience you need to deliver your message.

Public Speaking

With extensive experience as a keynote speaker, I deliver talks on topics such as ‘Making an Impact with Positivity and Personal Effectiveness.’

My Background

For more than fifteen years I was a television presenter, reporter and producer for some of the UK’s largest organisations, including the BBC and ITV.

During my media career, I covered significant events such as the death of Princess Diana, 9/11, General Elections, and the rise of India and Pakistan as nuclear powers. For eight years, I anchored ITV’s news in the Midlands.

As an entrepreneur and investor, I co-founded the PR agency Fleet Street Communications and the creative design agency Grin Consultancy. Both businesses grew to seven-figure revenues, were profitable and worked with some of the world’s leading brands. After ten years, in 2022, both companies did Management Buy Outs and I successfully exited.

My book ‘Positivity’ was published by The HotHive – 30 chapters on personal effectiveness to get you embracing a more positive outlook on life. Available on Amazon.

I remain eager to embrace new challenges and projects that continue to inspire and motivate me. Hence, my podcast, Five Star Insights.

After spending fifteen years in the media industry, I knew I had developed a strong set of skills that could significantly benefit businesses. In 2009, I teamed up with my business partner, Steve Dann.

Together, as investors, co-founders, and directors, we launched several businesses centered around communications. This included Fleet Street Communications (www.fsc.uk.com), a PR agency, and Grin Consultancy (www.grin.uk.com), a digital design agency, both established in 2010.

Despite setting up these businesses during a recession, we managed to grow them concurrently, reaching seven figures and collaborating with some of the world’s biggest brands.

After eleven successful years, in 2022, I exited both businesses through Management Buy Outs.

Currently, I serve as a board advisor to the Edtech company, Auris Tech Ltd. (www.auris.tech).

Previous board positions

  • Mathew Boulton College (now Birmingham Metropolitan College) – Governor
  • University of the First Age – Trustee
  • Investors in Excellence – Non-Executive Director
  • Human City Institute – Non-Executive Director

Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting and collaborating with a diverse range of charities.

Empowering women is a cause I am deeply passionate about, and I also dedicate my time to working with young people. I often give talks at schools, colleges, and universities about my career and the valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way.

My media career allowed me to work with Career Academies UK to develop Project Aspire at ITV, a program designed to lift the aspirations of teenagers who are either underachieving in the education system or come from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project included a confidence-building workshop and an inspiring tour of the ITV newsroom and studios.

I’ve been a longstanding supporter of the ‘Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards,’ an event that honors positive female role models and celebrates the achievements of women in society and business. Over the years, more than £500,000 has been raised for Revitalise and other charities through this initiative. You can learn more at www.womenoftheyear.org.uk.

Additionally, I back the work of Apps for Good, which empowers young people in the IT sector. More information about their impactful work is available at www.appsforgood.org.

I also collaborate with Forward Ladies, an organization dedicated to creating a global platform that connects women to opportunities, networks, businesses, and expertise that empower them. Discover more about their mission at www.forwardladies.com.
